The design team of Ming Chi University of Technology was honored with the "Outstanding Technical and Vocational Education Award-Competition Excellence Award" for their project titled "TAIWAN AlPINE LAKE Discover and Imagine." The Ministry of Education held the awards ceremony on December 14th at the Taipei City Youth Development and Family Education Center, where Vice President Cherng-Min Ma and the winning faculty and students attended and received recognition.

The Ministry of Education established the "Outstanding Technical and Vocational Education Award" to acknowledge outstanding student performances in technical and vocational education, aiming to encourage the development of professional skills. Ming Chi University of Technology emphasized its dedication to cultivating practical skills in technical education, enabling students to realize their ideals. Through interdisciplinary courses and year-long domestic and international internships, students are integrated into the professional arena, gaining a global perspective and bolstering their confidence in facing future employment challenges.

The winning team originates from the university's Visual Communication Design Department, comprising students Yu-Jou Lin, Jie-Yu Lin, Han-Ling Hou, Rou-Chi Kao, Chia-Wen Liu, and their mentor, Professor Yang, Chao-Ming. Their project " TAIWAN AlPINE LAKE Discover and Imagine " earned the "Competition Excellence Award" in the Outstanding Technical and Vocational Education Award . The concept behind " TAIWAN AlPINE LAKE Discover and Imagine " is rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15, focusing on conserving terrestrial ecosystems. It involved comprehensive research and analysis of Taiwan's iconic alpine lakes - Jiaming Lake, Qicai Lake, and Shuang-guie Lake. Utilizing illustrations, the team crafted a fresh visual identity, incorporating professional techniques in book layout and framing design to showcase Taiwan's alpine lakes' beauty while advocating for ecological conservation. This project has also received numerous prestigious international design awards, including the "Golden Bee Global Biennale of Graphic Design," "DNA Paris Design Awards," "iF Design Award," "International Poster Biennial in Mexico (BICM)," and the " Red Dot Design Award," which is a remarkable achievement.

The award-winning team explained that the illustration designs are presented in three different themes: " Jiaming Lake - Mysterious Extraterrestrial," "Qicai Lake - Dreamy Fairies," and "Double Ghost Lake - Sublime Spirits," each encapsulating distinct characteristics. Through imaginative illustrations, they aim to raise awareness of the importance of alpine lakes while highlighting the threat of their destruction. Their hope is for collective efforts to preserve the ecology and beauty of these natural landscapes for eternity.

This collaborative creation by faculty and students, crafting a work that combines texture and significance, participating in domestic and international competitions not only showcases Taiwan to the world but also receives recognition through the Outstanding Technical and Vocational Education Award. This acknowledgment significantly motivates the team to stride forward with confidence, utilizing their design expertise to contribute to local development and sustainable practices.
